This takes place right after RICK RIORDAN'S FIRST CHAPTER, so you may want to hear that before you read this.  www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRa3e0…

Please enjoy.

Annabeth forced that cold, shivery feeling out of her mind and gazed below them. A sea of purple t-shirts (much like the one Jason first wore) covered in battle armor awaited the crew of the Argo II. Two people wearing togas stood before the crowd. As they got closer, Annabeth could see that one of them had very dark hair, almost like…

Suddenly, Annabeth's heart was pounding so against her chest so hard she thought her ribs would break.

Annabeth tried not to think about what (or who, rather) would be down there. She turned to Piper, who gave her a preparatory nod.

"Land, ho!" Leo shouted gleefully, using his Wii controllers to lower a ramp off the side of the ship.

As quickly as possible (Annabeth had figured it would be best to explain themselves before the Romans could attack), they lined up in their pre-determined order: Jason (for recognition), Piper (for charmspeak), Annabeth (for strategy), and, lastly, Leo (so he hopefully wouldn't say anything).

When they were about to walk down the literal and metaphorical plank, Annabeth surveyed the crowd. The two toga-wearers stayed a few steps ahead of the crowd, one of whom was definitely Percy—the way he was grinning at Annabeth made her legs turn to jelly.

The plan was for Jason to speak first, as soon as they reached the ground. If things looked particularly hostile, Piper would talk in her soft, soothing voice—but no. That didn't happen.

Instead, Annabeth bolted down the ramp, pushing past Jason and Piper. She tore across the grass—it was damp, but she managed not to slip. She promptly tackled Percy, almost to the ground, but he somehow caught her without falling over. Until that moment, Annabeth hadn't known it was possible to simultaneously laugh and cry, but she certainly was then. Best of all, Percy was hugging her back, bone-crushingly tight.

"Oh, gods, I missed you," Percy practically gasped, which just made Annabeth cry harder. She extracted her face from his shoulder and smashed her lips against Percy's. It felt like pure, unorganized bliss.

"Annabeth," the bemused voice of Leo said from behind her, "What are you doing?"

Yes, things were not going according to plan.
"The best paid schemes of mice and men / Often go awry."

I am even more excited for MoA after watching Rick read THE FIRST CHAPTER. I lovelovelove that it is in Annabeth's point of view. She is lovely and funny and worried--eveything I could hope for.
