He hands her a messily wrapped, rectangular present.
She takes it, bemused and amused.
"I know I've completely slacked off in the boyfriend department for the past few months," he says, clearing his sandpapery throat. But I did get you something. So, um, happy Birthday slash Valentines slash Christmas slash whatever else I missed."
Her eyes widen, but she conceals her surprise well. "That wasn't your fault, you know."He can't contradict her, but apologizing still feels necessary.
Her fingers run along the edges of the parcel, trying to decipher its contence. She analyzes the blue paper intently before carefully undoing the tape. Just rip it already, he wants to scream.
Finally, (finally, finally, finally) she comes to the middle seam. Her pointer finger slides between the two sheets of paper, slitting the tape. Slowly, she lifts the filmy tissue paper. Her eyes light up when she gazes the cover, and Percy's glad he purchased the right book. After a moment, though, her expression turns somewhat…angry?
"When did you get this?" she asks, skeptical.
"Uh, while I was on the quest with Hazel and Frank," he answers.
"So you were buying me gifts when you were supposed to be unchaining Thanatos."
"Pretty much, I guess." He pauses, then, "I thought you would like it."
She sighs, muttering something incomprehensible under her breath. He looks back up at her, and her smile is hard not to notice. "I never said I didn't like it, Seaweed Brain."
"Oh. Oh, okay," he says, a relieved grin spreading across his face. When Annabeth leans closer to kiss him, he's pretty sure she's laughing.

Gift of the Magi
Annabeth found it because she almost tripped on it.
“Oh, Hades,” she cursed as she bent down to pick up her camp necklace from the Manhattan street. That was the third time it had fallen off this week. She carefully dusted the snow off, trying not to smudge the paint, and remarked to herself how nice it would be to get a new cord for it.
Over the past year or so, it had become more of a charm necklace than a camp necklace. Not only did she have her ten commemorative camp beads, but she also had her father’s college ring, the piece of red coral Percy had given her, and a new addition: a real platinum pendant from her

The Christmas Caper
Annabeth
I think it's pretty safe to say I had
an explosive Christmas. I spent it with Percy and his family this year.
Where did it all start? Probably with the Christmas tree.
We all piled into the Prius and headed to Upstate New York and a cute little Christmas tree farm in the mountains. It was a nice ride and we sang carols the whole way.
It wasn't long before we got to the farm and started looking at trees. They needed something small for their apartment, but nothing too small. As we walked through the snow, browsing through pines, we passed excited kids carrying their tiny trees and dogs running around, barking excited

Lighters- Bad Meets Evil (Between Demigod Files and TLO)
You and I know what it's like
To be kicked down, forced to fight
But tonight, we're alive
So hold up your lights. Let it shine.
'Cause this one's for you and me,
living out our dreams. We are right where we should be.
With my arms out wide, I open my eyes
And now all I want to see is a sky full of lighters.
Percy
I stood by the shore of the Sound and watched as campers partied and danced, counting down the minutes to New Year's. It was nice and all, but I couldn't get into it. For some reason (go figure), surviving another year seemed like a miracle, and a huge, blowout celeb

NOTE: This will make more sense if you've read my other story The Library. It's in my gallery.
Reach: I really hope you like this!! It's not very holiday oriented, but I figured since it's way past Christmas, this would be appropriate. Also, I was not super late with your gift, by the way. (: I just saw on Children of the Big Three's page that your gift had not been made yet, so I volunteered to do it.
This isn't my best writing, but it's kinda nice, no? Please tell me what you think!
